Currently out on loan, Folarin Balogun may be considered surplus to requirements when he returns to Arsenal…

The summer transfer window is the least of Arsenal’s priorities right now. The Gunners are focusing on winning each Premier League match to hopefully clinch their first league titles since the invincible season.

However, the board of recruitment is always hard at work. Last summer they had one of their best transfer windows in some time, with new additions proving to be pivotal to their successes so far this season.

In the next transfer window, though, there may be an unfortunate departure for Arsenal fans to deal with. According to The Sun,  Arsenal are still considering selling Folarin Balogun, who is currently on loan at Reims in Ligue 1.

So far this season, Balogun has been one of the best strikers in Europe. Little may know about this, but Balogun is the top goal scorer in Ligue 1 currently, scoring 14 goals in 21 games. He has scored 8 goals in his last 10 – including a last-minute winner against Paris Saint-Germain and a hat-trick in the next match against Lorient.

Long story short, Balogun is scoring goals for fun, which made many Arsenal fans eagerly anticipate his return. However, he may be surplus to requirements in North London, with Gabriel Jesus returning from injury and Eddie Nketiah being Arsenal’s top goal scorer this season. These are the two strikers of choice for Mikel Arteta, with the latter certainly proving his doubters wrong during his stint in the first team.

It’s a sign of positive change as far as Arsenal are concerned when the leading scorer in France is deemed surplus to requirements. I would love to see Folarin Balogun firing for the Gunners as I’ve been a fan of this since he was in the academy – we will just wait to see what the remainder of the season brings.
