Declan Rice is not letting Arsenal forget about him…

According to the latest from Adrian Clarke, Declan Rice has been sounding out people close with Arsenal, trying to decipher what the club is like before signing. He is supposedly asking questions like “what’s like?” to people he knows who are connected with the North London club.

We know already that Declan Rice is at the top of Arsenal’s transfer hierarchy for the summer transfer window, where they seek a long-term replacement for Mohamed Elneny. It was already reported that new signing Jorginho could leave the club at the end of the season, which would be the perfect time for Rice to be announced.

Rice is a player who would slot straight into Mikel Arteta’s plans. Playing in England his whole life, the midfielder is very much used to the Premier League and its physicality. Rice is one of the best midfielders in the league so he will be the subject of a lot of attention, Chelsea another club interested in signing him.

This is becoming quite a common theme; players that Arsenal want to sign, are now wanting to sign for Arsenal. This is because the Mikel Arteta project is materialising, and players are realising it. When West Ham and Arsenal met on boxing day a couple of months ago, Rice was known to heap a tonne of praise on the Spanish manager and the way he’s got Arsenal playing.

What’s most notable about Mikel Arteta’s new imposed philosophy is the work he has put into the midfield. Of course, this was his position in his playing days so he knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great midfielder.

Do you think the Gunners will persevere and sign Declan Rice in the summer transfer window?
