Chelsea made a lot of signings in January which will affect Christian Pulisic’s game time when he returns from injury, a move to Galatasaray could be a smart move.

There was a lot of speculation about Pulisic moving on from Chelsea in January. If it was not for his knee injury he may have already left Stamford Bridge. His playing time under Graham Potter is likely to be affected by the signings of Joao Felix, Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk.

There will not be many clubs that would take an injured player. However, according to Turkish transfer expert, Ekrem Konur, “Galatasaray have been monitoring Pulisic’s situation closely and keen to take the American on loan until the end of the season. Considering the number of attacking players they have, Chelsea are willing to sanction this move.”

The transfer window in Turkey closes on the 12th of January, so they have time to complete the deal. Pulisic recently took to Instagram to give an injury update with just a two-word caption saying “back soon.”

Would move to Galatasaray be good for Pulisic?

In Pulisic’s career so far he has only played in Europe’s top five leagues with spells in the Bundesliga and the Premier League. A move to the Turkish Super Lig would feel like a step-down. However, given the circumstances that he picked up his injury at such a bad time, it may be his best option to play some football.

Galatasaray is currently top of the Super Lig and with Pulisic yet to win a league title, it would be a great opportunity for him. The American is struggling for game time at Chelsea and if he was to prove himself in Turkey then a move to a team in a top league in Europe would not be far away.

Or should Pulisic stick it out at Chelsea?

As Chelsea’s new signings showed against Fulham on Friday night, they will take time to gel as a team. Pulisic does not have a bad record for the Blues with 26 goals and 21 assists in 136 games, so if Potter’s side is still struggling when he returns to action, then he could get a chance back in the side.

Pulisic has been linked to moves within the Premier League, as well as La Liga and back in the Bundesliga. He is the star of the U.S. men’s national team and his country will need him to be playing at the highest level ahead of the World Cup in 2026 which they are co-hosting.

Moving to Galatasaray may be a good short-term option but long term a player of his talents needs to be playing in one of Europe’s top leagues. A spell in Turkey could be what Pulisic needs to help him get back to his best, especially after a long time out due to injury.

When Pulisic returns he must prove that he is better than the Super Lig, whether he is playing in the division or not.
