Predicted Midfield: (CDM) Ibrahima Diallo – James Ward-Prowse (CM) – Romeo Lavia (CDM)

Romeo Lavia comes in for Charly Alcaraz in the midfield as Diallo and Ward-Prowse are set to keep their starting positions.

Since captain James Ward-Prowse has been allowed to progress higher up the field, his ability to influence the game has improved this season. To help balance out the middle of the field, Diallo and Lavia will act as defensive midfielders, with Lavia, in particular, being used as the connector between the defence and the attack.

Ibrahima Diallo has seen himself become a regular for Nathan Jones in the last month, starting Southampton’s last two Premier League fixtures. Whilst it’s likely he starts, Alcaraz who played just the first half against Newcastle could be the alternative to start against Brentford.
