This Arsenal fan was quick to point out a hilarious stat which compares Mikel Arteta with Jose Mourinho…

Managing Arsenal for three years now, Mikel Arteta was today awarded with his fifth Premier League Manager of the Month award. The Spanish coach won the award in September of 2021, March 2022, August 2022, November/December 2022 and January 2023.

To win the award five times is quite something and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Arsenal faithful. This Arsenal fan was quick to rub in the fact that he’s now won it more times than arch enemy of the club Jose Mourinho.

And it’s true. Despite managing three Premier League clubs throughout his tenure, Jose Mourinho has only won the Manager of the Month award four times.

Many people (including Jose himself) will be quick to retort with his other honours, of which there are many. However, the stat is quite funny. And it’s a very Arsenal thing to pick up on as well.

The aim for Mikel, though, is not individual awards. He loves Arsenal with his whole heart, and he wants to turn the group of players at his disposal into serial winners. He has instilled a mindset deep in this set of players that they can go out and win any match, regardless of the level of competition.

The Gunners sit top of the Premier League and face Everton tomorrow, with the aim to extend their lead at the top of the table. It’ll be an emotional visit to Goodison Park for Mikel, as he spent many great years there as a player. However, Arsenal is his team, and he’ll be as passionate as ever on the touchline to fire up his players.

What do you make of this stat? Is it justified?
