Chelsea predicted lineup to host Fulham – Defence

I predict Graham Potter to field a back three, since it worked well for him against Liverpool. This will involve three centre-backs holding the line, with two wing-backs looking to humiliate the Fulham full-backs.

The first defender of the back three will be Thiago Silva. It looks like he is set to retire at Stamford Bridge now. Having dropped a bad performance against Fulham last time out, the Brazil veteran will take it on the chin and learn from his defensive mistakes.

Silva will likely be accompanied by new signing Benoit Badiashile. The 21-year-old signed from Monaco towards the start of the transfer window and has adjusted well. Having played two full games for the Blues now, he has kept two clean sheets and looks like an important signing. Time will tell just how important that early transfer could prove to be.

To complete the defensive trio, it will be Trevoh Chalobah. The Englishman will complete three consecutive starts and deservedly so. His defensive malleability is proving to be a key asset to Graham Potter, who is still figuring out his best defensive setup. Chalobah’s composure and ability to play from the back could prove pivotal in this match.
