Tottenham has swooped in for Villareal winger Arnaut Danjuma and have beat out Everton for his signature

OFFICIAL: Arnaut Danjuma has joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the remainder of the season. The deal comes as a surprise as just days ago it seemed that Danjuma’s move to Everton seemed completed.

A very bizarre situation developed as Danjuma had his medical with Everton completed and had put pen to paper but would not submit a registration form to the English FA to complete the deal, according to reliable Everton ITK, El Bobble.

Arnaut Danjuma has found himself in a weird position this season with Villareal as the forward lost his starting position despite a very strong season last year. Notably, Danjuma scored 6 goals in the Champions League last season during Villareal’s run to the semi-finals. Danjuma came through the highly respected PSV youth system and assuming this deal crosses the finish, it will not be his first time in England. Danjuma spent 3 years with current Premier League side Bournemouth before making his move to Spain.

After his breakout season with The Yellow Submarine in 2022, Danjuma attracted much interest in the summer, with Liverpool constantly being linked with the forward.

What does the deal mean for Tottenham?

Tottenham unsurprisingly is looking to upgrade their attack as newcomer Richarlison remains injured whilst fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura finds him on the outside looking in. With Kane and Son carrying the attack, Tottenham bringing in Danjuma makes a lot of sense as the Dutchman can offer some needed help up front.

It is also a smart financial move for the North London club because as of now, it is just a loan with no obligation to buy. As reported by The Top Flight weeks ago, Spurs’ are also heavily interested in Sporting CP wingback Pedro Porro, so there may only be so many funds available. Chairman Daniel Levy has been known to be hesitant about splashing big amounts of cash so bringing a player of Danjuma’s calibre for just a loan fee looks like a tidy bit of business.
