Manchester United are in the market for a new right-back – but so are Chelsea.

Manchester United are in dire need of a new right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been plagued with injuries this season, could be allowed to leave the club this month. Another club who is interested in signing a new right-back is Chelsea, who also need cover with Reece James’ injury problems.

According to a new report from talkSPORT, both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Kyle Walker-Peters. It’s thought that his former club Tottenham could also join the race but for now, they are just keeping tabs.

Kyle Walker-Peters is essentially letting his Southampton contract run down. The England international is under contract until 2025 but has stalled on the opportunity to extend his stay. Therefore, the contract rebel will be eager to explore the interested clubs.

From Walker-Peters’ perspective, you would have to favour Manchester United. It seems like Erik ten Hag has the club bouncing again and they are finally on an upwards trajectory. Walker-Peters would also join a strong core of English players and would be a great back-up to Diogo Dalot, who is an excellent right-back to learn from.

When playing at Old Trafford, you always feel the pressure, not only from the media but also from fans. However, they would take to him well. He is a full-back entering the prime stages of his career who aims for success. He works hard in training and has proven he can play for a big club, having started off at Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are not looking like a great destination. The only reason players sign for them nowadays is money, not passion.
