Manchester United may wish to re-sign their former talent, while he is in this form.

The Premier League is known to make or break talents. While many overseas players have come to Manchester United and became fan favourites, they’ve also had their fair share of flops.

The Top Flight reported recently that one of those flops, Memphis Depay, was the subject of interest once more at Manchester United.

According to a new report emerging today from Spanish publication Sport, Memphis Depay is passionate about leaving Barcelona to re-join Manchester United, six years after he left the Red Devils.

Since Depay left Old Trafford, he is widely recognised as one of the most deadly final-third players. Developing at both Lyon and Barcelona, he is living up to the potential which made United sign him originally.

Under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United are a different club. They are now the type of club where players can come, safe in the knowledge they will be under one of the best coaches in the world. Ten Hag specialises in working with young talents, but at the peak of his career at 28, Depay will still benefit from working with his countryman.

Given Barcelona’s financial situation, they will need to sell a player or multiple players to recuperate their losses. United will hope to benefit from this, as they tried signing Frenkie de Jong but had no luck.

This season, Depay has been plagued with injuries which saw him only pick up two league appearances. However, the Dutch forward played in every World Cup match for the Netherlands, even scoring in their first knockout match against USA.

Now he is back from injury, Barcelona will consider his long-term future at the club and may decide he is one of the players they should sell.

Do you think Manchester United should re-sign Memphis Depay?
