Arsenal are not put off by Chelsea’s interest of Mykhaylo Mudryk – they want to do one better.
Arsenal were extremely confident of signing Mykhaylo Mudryk last month. It seemed they would have an easy ride of things, as both the club and player were eager to make the move happen. However, in typical Arsenal fashion, they were slow to get the ball rolling and now it looks like Chelsea are aiming to capitalise.
According to a report from Mirror, Mikel Arteta is stepping up the race for his club to sign both Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk in January. Furthermore, the Telegraph claim that Arsenal will not enter a bidding war with Chelsea, but they are confident they will still land Mudryk, alongside Felix.
So, it’s positive news for Arsenal fans today. Both outlets report of Arteta’s confidence and tenacity in the transfer window. It’s thought the Spanish coach will have the backing of the board this transfer window, as he has given the directors all the reasons in the world to trust him and his long-term plan.
The Gunners sit top of the Premier League table. They have rarely slipped up this season, as only on three occasions have they not won, having lost just once throughout the entirety of this campaign.
It’s a testament to Arteta’s work behind the scenes that the Gunners are now dubbed to win the league this season. Meanwhile, Chelsea need all the help they can get, but are hindered by Financial Fair Play watching over their every move in the transfer market.
It’s quite a topsy-turvy transfer saga but I’m still confident Arsenal will sign Mykhaylo Mudryk, given the news that continues to emerge. Joao Felix, on the other hand, could go either way. Atletico Madrid’s asking price is high for only a 6-month deal. However, it could happen should Arteta be passionate about making it happen.
Who do you think Arsenal will sign this January?
