Manchester United are not bewildered by their star defender’s form…
Recently on The Top Flight, we reported that Manchester United were considering whether or not to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka. This came about because of rumoured interest from his old club, Crystal Palace.
However, since then, Wan-Bissaka has put in a handful of great performances, which might have inspired hope for the Englishman. Playing at Old Trafford, he has turned into a beast and when he is playing consistent football, he’s one of the best defence-minded full-backs in the England.
A new report from the Daily Mail, though, states that Manchester United will still consider selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the January transfer window should the right price be met. This is despite his good display of form in recent matches.
Wan-Bissaka has only made four Premier League appearances so far this season, not helped by his injury record. Transfermarkt have his current market value down at just shy of £16m – considering the potential he displayed and that Manchester United spent £50m in 2019, it’s not looking good.
In my opinion, if Erik ten Hag sees fit that he should sell Wan-Bissaka, then the move should go ahead. The Manchester United boss is building a long-term project and is a defensive mastermind.
This could dictate United’s moves in the transfer window. As Diogo Dalot is an extraordinary player and one which Erik ten Hag values highly, he needs a backup option to fill in for the Portugal international if need be. Particularly as the busy second half of the season kicks in, squad rotation could be a key aspect to United’s play.
Given the win over Bournemouth, Manchester United moved up to fourth in the Premier League. They are level on points but have a game-in-hand on Newcastle United in third place.
Do you think Manchester United will keep or sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka?
