Chelsea are planning to absolutely rinse Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal seem to be active in the transfer window – with both clubs looking to strengthen their teams in attack, for different reasons.
Mikel Arteta simply wants to add depth and stability to his fierce front-line. On the other hand, Chelsea have one of the most expensive attacks in the league but Graham Potter’s looking to add more as they have been woeful in this area of the pitch this season.
Arsenal have made no secret of their desire to sign Mykhailo Mudryk. The desire is reciprocated too, as the 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk winger has posted a tonne of pictures on social media showing he watches the Arsenal games – even dubbing Mikel Arteta as a great coach.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are now looking at options and strategising a last-minute swoop to sign Mykhailo Mudryk. This is despite the Ukrainian winger already agreeing to personal terms with Arsenal.
The Top Flight verdict – Huge if true
I guess the first thing to point out here is that the news was broke by The Sun. While they have certainly got a lot of things right before, articles from this publication should always be taken with a pinch of salt.
However, it’s known that Chelsea were interested in Mykhailo Mudryk before. This, we do know – it was just the case that only Arsenal had submitted a bid to Shakhtar.
Furthermore, we know that the Blues have the money to do so. As Arsenal already had a bid rejected for the winger, it could come down to who is willing to splash the cash. Between the Kroenke family and Todd Boehly in this regard, there is one clear winner and that’s the latter.
Not only would Chelsea fix their attack by signing Mudryk, but they would also be weakening Arsenal, who have spent a long amount of time planning their future direction with Mudryk in mind.
As for the player, he would be getting the worse end of the deal if he signed for Chelsea. You have to see, the club is in the mud at the moment. Whereas at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta is leading a promising project, full of young players who unlike their London rivals, actually want to be at the club.
Where do you think Mykhailo Mudryk will end up next season?
