Marcos Rojo (Sporting CP to Manchester United)

Rojo outstanding performances helped Argentina reached the final at the FIFA World Cup 2014. Rojo proved everyone wrong with some marauding runs down the flank creating and breaking up plays with his flamboyant playing style. Rojo scored his first goal for Argentina in a 3-2 win over Nigeria in Argentina’s third group game. He joined Manchester United after his World Cup exploits and much was expected of him.

However, everything went south soon thereafter. Marcos Rojo spent 7 seasons playing 122 games but had a torrid time at Old Trafford both on and off the field. The troubles were staring Manchester United dead in the face from the day Rojo put pen to paper. In Manchester United’s first three games Rojo was absent merely because of difficulties in gaining a work permit.

He then missed the entire pre-season tour of North America in 2015 and was fined a hefty fee by Lois Van Gaal. All this was coupled with an extended shoulder injury and was out of favor with the new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.  After seven miserable seasons he was then transferred to Boca Juniors.
