Arsenal given huge transfer boost as they seek Leicester City midfielder

Arsenal may have been given fuel in their quest to sign this Premier League midfielder.
Yesterday large parts of the world celebrated New Years Day. But this only meant one thing for football fans and that was the opening of the January transfer window. It is a transfer window which Arsenal fans in particular have been looking forward to, given Mikel Arteta’s persistent comments on his plans to do business in this window.
The Gunners sit top of the Premier League table and have taken advantage of teams around them dropping points. With Manchester City breathing down their necks, though, they must do all they can in January to maximise their squad depth.
According to Express, Arsenal fans can now take hope from business going on around them. Leicester City have made a bid of £20m to Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who is seen as the ideal replacement to Youri Tielemans. Tielemans has been on Arteta’s radar for some time now, as he is the perfect backup option for Thomas Partey should he be injured or suspended.
Tielemans is an exceptional midfielder. Given the football that the Foxes have played this season, a player of his quality will be looking to leave the club for a new adventure. Mikel Arteta’s project, which relies on a solid and stable midfield, will certainly suit Tielemans.
It is a testament to Arteta that Partey is seen as one of the best midfielders in the league now, Granit Xhaka has gone from zero to hero and Martin Odegaard is finally fulfilling his world-class potential. As a midfielder himself, Arteta will know how to get the best out of Tielemans, which is a terrifying thought given how well he has played already in his career.
Of course, there are options for Arsenal should they choose to sign elsewhere. The Top Flight have already commented on the growing interest for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who many believe is a chief transfer target. But having options is never a bad thing.
