Arsenal finally agree terms with their priority transfer target

Arsenal may have their first signing of 2023 secured.
Arsenal have been active in the transfer market over the last couple of weeks and the club has been surprisingly vocal about it. Mikel Arteta is not entirely pleased with how his squad looks at the moment, despite them being 7 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and the best team in England this season.
Yesterday marked the opening of the January transfer window, one which will surely be fruitful to the Gunners as they seek improvement. The player highest on their shortlist is Mykhailo Mudryk, the 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk forward – they have made no secret of their growing interest in the Ukrainian winger.
According to Sport Arena, an agreement between Mudryk and Arsenal has been reached, which will see him sign for the club on a 5-year-deal. Negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs but the first part of the deal is done.
The Top Flight had already reported Arsenal’s initial offer. The Gunners opened bidding at an impressive £55m, but this didn’t meet Shakhtar’s asking price. They are eager to sign Mudryk, though, so they will go in with a fresh bid which is more up to the club’s standards.
Mudryk is an incredibly dynamic winger. Having the confidence to take on his opposing wing-back while also showing the technical ability to cut inside and take the game by the scruff of the neck – he is ideal for Arteta.
It is not like Mudryk has a big task ahead of him, either. With Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka being the two best wingers in the league, Arteta will bring in Mudryk to have fun. He has shown, even in the short span of his career so far, that he is a grafter and wants to work hard to improve – therefore, this gives an element of healthy competition but also some additional rest time to the already hard-working Arsenal attack.
Do you think Arsenal will sign Mudryk?
