Manchester United defeat Nottingham Forest in 3-0 victory
Manchester United are back in fine fashion.
Manchester United rolled past Nottingham Forest in a 3-0 win with goal contributions from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Fred. This is United’s third win in their last five Premier League games, helping them maintain their fifth place spot with 29 points. Nottingham Forest remain among the bottom three spots with 13 points, one point outside of relegation.
The match opened up with United finding several chances, but were unable to execute. However, it was Christian Eriksen finding Marcus Rashford on a corner to put United in front in the 19th minute. Not long after, Rashford would find himself assisting Anthony Martial in the 22nd minute, helping the Red Devils put themselves up to a 2-0 lead. And in the second half, Fred was assisted by Casemiro on a beautiful ball to put them up three goals and putting the game to bed.
Erik Ten Hang has seemed to brought life back to some United players who have struggled before his arrival at Manchester. Players like Marcus Rashford, who has now scored in five straight games at Old Trafford, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been a massive help at Right Back in his last two games. It’s safe to say there has been improvement in the Ten Hang era.
Nottingham’s Ryan Yates eventually scored in the 40th minute, only for the goal to be disallowed, due to Willy Boly being offside. Tonight was an overall sloppy performance by Forest, there was no control of the ball, poor shot selections, and the defensive effort just wasn’t there. If Steve Cooper wants to prevent his squad from being relegated, they’re going to need to go back to the basics.
