Arsenal have a hefty £55m offer rejected for chief transfer target

Arsenal have had a £55m offer rejected.
Arsenal are not commonly known to splash the cash in the transfer window. However, this is looking likely to change. Mikel Arteta is consistently winning trust from the board, who will reward him by granting more wishes in the January transfer window.
It is thought that the attack is a high priority for the Spanish boss. With the injury to Gabriel Jesus proving to be a lengthy one, the Gunners may wish to sign a new striker. Furthermore, there needs to be backup on the flanks.
The transfer saga between Arsenal and Mykhailo Mudryk has been ongoing for some time now. Unless you live under a rock, you would have already read about the outwardly public transfer discussions. Mudryk posted to his Instagram story that he had been watching Arsenal beat West Ham United on boxing day.
This is all well and good but a deal can only be made if both clubs and the player are actively working to make it happen. According to a new report from Evening Standard, Shakhtar Donetsk have rejected Arsenal’s opening offer of £55m for Mykhailo Mudryk.
Rival fans will be quick to laugh but this is quite a common occurrence. Rarely do clubs accept the first offer which comes in for their player – unless it is a ridiculously good price or the club is desperate for a sale.
Furthermore, it is a good thing for Arsenal as it is a telling sign of Mudryk’s immense talent. Shakhtar have no reason to sell at a low price as he is one of their brightest prospects and already their best player. The Evening Standard report also claims the Gunners will be quick to bounce back with a fresh and better offer – one they are likely planning as we speak.
Do you think Arsenal will sign Mykhailo Mudryk?
