Crystal Palace (Current league position 11th)

Sitting comfortably in the middle of the pack, Palace will be hoping for continued smooth waters after the winter break. With only 2 players involved in the World Cup (Danish defender Joachim Anderson and Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew) and a relatively low injured list, the Eagles will be hoping to negotiate the January transfer window and fend-off perennial interest in striker Wilfred Zaha, whose contract expires at the end of the season. Their Christmas wish may revolve around a long-term vision, retaining a team befitting the exciting redevelopment plans at Selhurst Park as reported on the club website.

Everton (Current league position 17th)

There’s nothing like heading to the other side of the world when the chips are down and Frank Lampard will be hoping the mid-winter break in Australia quickly banishes memories of the ugly 3-0 loss away at Bournemouth, part of a dismal run of form that saw the Toffees slip to 17th in the league. Jordan Pickford once again proved his worth wearing an England shirt during the break, but the Christmas wish for Everton fans will surely be that a fully fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin can rediscover his 2020/21 form, when he bagged 16 Premier League goals.

Fulham (Current league position 9th)

The Cottagers waved goodbye to 6 players ahead of the World Cup break and will have been keeping a particularly close eye on star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who was representing Serbia.  Mitrovic carried his Championship form into the Premier League, netting an impressive 9 goals in their opening 12 games and the striker showed no signs of a troublesome foot injury in Qatar, netting twice during the group stage matches. He surely represents Fulham’s best hope for continued good form in the Premier Lague, although manager Marco Silva is reportedly in the market for a defender seeking to address the 26 league goals shipped so far and has reportedly targeted Cedric Soares who has fallen out of favour at Arsenal. Keeping Mitrovic fit and in goal-scoring form is the Christmas wish of all at Craven Cottage.
