Manchester United are finally beginning to make progress for the January transfer window.

Manchester United got off to a winning start in their return to football. They brushed aside Burnley with a comfortable 2-0 win in the Carabao Cup, but their attention will now turn to the Premier League – where Erik ten Hag comes up against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Then, the attention will certainly be on the January transfer window. Manchester United are in 5th place which is not awful, but they are below their objectives for the season. Ideally, Erik ten Hag will finish fourth or higher so the Red Devil can return to their beloved Champions League next season. Having high aspirations like this will certainly attract players from across Europe.

According to a report from Mirror, Manchester United have finally opened talks with PSV about their signing in form and in-demand attacker Cody Gakpo. Gakpo was one of the revelations of the recent World Cup tournament and because of this, many clubs across Europe are lining up to sign him.

Ageing at 23 years old, Gakpo already plays like a mature forward. With that being said, I don’t think it will take him long to hit the ground running in the Premier League. With the right support network, he could certainly be the man the Red Devils need to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gakpo has scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions so far this season, which is an astonishing overall record for a player of his age. Furthermore, in 5 World Cups, he scored an impressive 3 goals.

With Marcus Rashford bang in form, it is certainly a promising proposition for Manchester United to have both players in their attacking ranks. Erik ten Hag is starting to implement an attacking philosophy filled with flair, creativity and cutting edge. This is exactly what was needed.

Do you think Manchester United will sign Cody Gakpo?
