Manchester United is looking forward to providing a long rope for Aaron Wan-Bissaka despite clubs encircling the right-back
After the Burnley game in the Carabao Cup, Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has provided a lifeline for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back has been out for a while due to injury and fitness issues. Pundits and transfer journalists linked the former Crystal Palace defender with a move away from Old United in the upcoming transfer window. However, Erik ten Hag’s recent comments on the player tell a different tale.
Post the victory in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, ten Hag spoke regarding the injury of the player which kept him on the sidelines:
"Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it is clear he has a future [here]. He’s had some good years with United, but from the start of this season he had a lot of illnesses and injuries, and so was running behind. His fitness levels are getting better, his performance levels are getting better.(Via: Mirror)"
The manager also appreciated the fine assist by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 25-year-old player provided an acrobatic assist to Christian Eriksen to open the scoring at Old Trafford. He was also robust in the defense and came away with the cleansheet in the Carabao Cup.
"When you get an assist, especially the way he got that assist with his movement and the right moment, the timing and then great pass of course from Bruno [Fernandes]. But this is great and so I’m happy with his performance. He did good."
Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the 2022/23 season
There are two reasons that the game time is hard to come by for the Manchester United full-back. Wan-Bissaka has struggled with back pain and has missed nine games for Manchester United whereas the rise of Diogo Dalot has also affected the game time for the English international. Because of this, AWB has featured in only one Premier League fixture as well as one Carabao Cup fixture. He has played 76 minutes across all competitions for the Old Trafford outfit in 2022/23.

What next for Aaron Wan-Bissaka?
Crystal Palace is interested in re-signing Wan-Bissaka, while West Ham United are interested in securing the services. Every fan felt that Wan-Bissaka is closer to a move away from Stretford End. However, the recent comments could alter the dynamics in the upcoming transfer window.
Due to the FIFA World Cup in winter, the league as well as continental fixtures have gone for a toss. The second half of the club football season is going to be busy for Manchester United as they are still part of all four competitions. Keeping the workload balance of Diogo Dalot and the unavailability of fullbacks at both club and the transfer market, it is wise for the club to keep the 25-year-old in Manchester.
