Leicester City will wait until the last moment for James Maddison.

James Maddison has not had the best month. The Leicester City star man travelled to Qatar, but he would have been better off staying in England as he faced an injury knock early on, which saw him ruled out. Furthermore, he did not feature in the Carabao Cup win over MK Dons.

Now, the Foxes turn their attention to the boxing day fixture at home to Newcastle United. Many fans are eager to await the injury decision for James Maddison, but it does not look promising.

According to the Independent, James Maddison is still nursing his knee injury and is not ready to fully commit to fitness. The report states the Foxes will wait until the final possible moment to decide whether Maddison is up to standard.

Both teams were in scintillating form heading into the World Cup break – Leicester with four wins from five, and Newcastle with a perfect five wins from five. Everyone will favour Newcastle as they are one of the better English teams this season, but let’s not rule out the Foxes.

They are mounting a comeback after a disappointing start but James Maddison is key to this comeback. When he is fully fit and ticking, so too are the team as a collective. He is the main creative outlet at the King Power Stadium, as much of the play seems to run through the English midfielder.

It is not easy for Brendan Rodgers to provide a cutthroat decision, but this is  a sign of improvement as if he isn’t ready for Boxing Day, he will almost certainly be available for Leicester’s next match. Leicester fans will hope for a Christmas miracle with Maddison being fit.
