3.) Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

Saka has carried his team in the Premier League in the past, a young Arsenal side in the ascension. This past month, he put the world on notice that his skills aren’t limited to the Premier League, but they translate to the World’s biggest stage.

His tournament got off to a flyer, scoring two against Iran in a whopping 6-2 victory.

This World Cup, the first of many for the young Premier League star, showed to be a coming of age. His maturity and fearless approach in his game has already been on display for all to see. He stepped up with all the pressure of his country in the Euros to take a deciding penalty against Italy over a year ago and lived with the repercussions of his miss. In many ways, you can argue that has certainly shaped him and prepared him for the moments of magic he showed in this World Cup, while also helping to shape the man he is today.

Against France, he once again showed his ability to influence a game, drawing fouls, creating 2 chances, and winning a penalty for his side. Withdrawing him from that match might have been one of Gareth Southgate’s biggest regrets when he looks back at his decisions.

Saka would finish the tournament with 3 goals, and managed to play an integral part in just about all of England’s success in this World Cup, coincidence… I think not!
