As the quarter finals of the World Cup are set to kickoff, there are still 6 Tottenham Hotspur players representing their countries in Qatar.
After a strong start to the season, Tottenham Hotspur still has a handful of key players participating in the World Cup quarter finals. Antonio Conte’s side sent 11 players to the World Cup and he will hope his players remain in top form once they return from international duty in Qatar.
Harry Kane, Eric Dier (England)
After topping group B with relative ease, England defeated Senegal 3-0 in the round of 16 to punch their ticket to the quarter finals of the World Cup. Harry Kane scored his first goal of the tournament against Senegal, while Eric Dier contributed 13 minutes off the bench. Dier has yet to start a match at the World Cup, so it is unlikely that he will be in Gareth Southgate’s starting XI for their quarter final match against France.
Christian Romero (Argentina)
As Argentina prepare for a quarter final tie with the Netherlands, Christian Romero is likely to start for Lionel Scaloni’s side, marking his third consecutive appearance in the starting XI. Argentina leans on Romero to bring a physical presence to their back line, a trait that will be pivotal against the swift Dutch counter attack. Romero has appeared in all four of Argentina’s matches so far and the young defender has impressed so far in his first World Cup.
Hugo Lloris (France)
Serving as the captain for both Tottenham Hostpur and France, Huge Lloris remains the backbone of a French team looking to repeat as World Champions. Despite having a quiet tournament so far, the skipper Lloris will need to remain sharp in the quarter final against England, knowing full well the capabilities of his club teammate Harry Kane.
Ivan Perišić (Croatia)
After contributing the lone goal in 105 minutes during the win over Japan, the 33-year old Perišić will be a key factor for the Croatians as they face Brazil in the quarter finals. Offering both attacking and defensive support, Perišić’s importance to the Croatian national team cannot be understated. Both Croatia and Tottenham Hotspur fans will hope Ivan Perišić remains in great form going forward.
Richarlison (Brazil)
Widely regarded as Tottenham Hostpur’s best summer signing, Richarlison has been a shining star for Brazil at the World Cup. Richarlison has scored three goals at the World Cup, two of which will be considered for the goal of the tournament. Spearheading a vibrant and diverse attack, Richarlison remains a key factor in the success of the Brazilians in their quest to win the World Cup for the sixth time.
