It’s not looking promising for Arsenal at the moment.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League by a healthy distance. Securing their place at the top of the table for Christmas, the Gunners had an excellent first half of the season but they have not had the best of luck during the World Cup break. Their star striker and summer arrival Gabriel Jesus has undergone surgery, following an injury he picked up with Brazil in Qatar.

Although Jesus has not been in good goal scoring form, the Brazil international striker has been exceptional in other areas of the game. Both his creativity and defensive work rate have been real assets to the Gunners. Therefore, he is certainly going to be a big miss as he recovers.

According to a new report from Calciomercato, there are bigger fish to fry for Arsenal. The Italian outlet have claimed that AC Milan are prepared to enter the race for Gabriel Martinelli in January. It is thought the speedy Brazilian attacker is also on Barcelona’s radar.

When does Gabriel Martinelli’s contract expire at Arsenal?

Gabriel Martinelli’s contract will expire in the summer of 2024. The club also has an option to extend the contract length by 1 year.

Furthermore, The Top Flight recently reported that Gabriel Martinelli was one of three Arsenal stars who were closing to signing new deals.

With all this in mind, it does not seem like the Gunners should be entering panic stations. But they certainly need to act prudently. With names such as AC Milan and Barcelona being thrown around, it is easy for any player’s head to be turned. It should be a priority, therefore, for Arsenal to pin the Brazil superstar down to a new contract, to put the squad at ease for the remainder of the season.
