Arsenal are believed to be big admirers of this Serbian midfielder.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League for many reasons, but none more so than their midfield organisation. For the first time in what feels like a life time, the Gunners are ticking in the middle of the pitch. They have found a winning partnership in Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey – with the Swiss acting as a number eight and Partey holding the line well.

But the Gunners do lack depth. This is the first thing that critics will tell you when you say that Arsenal have a chance of being title contenders. As biased as those remarks tend to be, there is some truth – Arsenal’s depth is not near ideal.

But, the good news is that the transfer window is fast approaching. Mikel Arteta has given the board plenty of reason to back his decisions in January. With Gabriel Jesus facing an injury and other Arsenal stars at the World Cup, it is important this transfer window is approached with prudence.

According to TuttoJuve, Arsenal will join the race to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The 27-year-old midfielder is high on the radar of Juventus, but it is believed Arsenal are prepared to go ‘all-in’ for the man who is dubbed to be the ‘best midfielder in the world‘ (the words of Lazio’s president, don’t shoot the messenger)

Transfermarkt value Milinkovic-Savic at around £50m. But Claudio Lotito, who dubs him as the best midfielder in the world, wants £105m. If the Gunners do want to sign Milinkovic-Savic, they will have to barter with the club president because no matter how much they want him, they cannot afford to pay the hefty fee which the club president is pinning on his name.

Scoring 3 goals and providing 7 assists for Lazio this season, it is clear to see why the Gunners are eager to sign him. Both Xhaka and Milinkovic-Savic play as a number eight, so it is a like-for-like swap should Xhaka need to be rested. Either this or, given Jesus’ injury, Arteta may require a formation switch.
