Arsenal are organised for the second half of this season.

English TV pundits are absolutely loving life as they believe they’re witnessing everything they’ve been wishing for – Arsenal’s mid-season downfall. But Mikel Arteta is not amused and is paying no attention to the failed managers – he is focused on one thing and one thing only, building stronger for the second half of the season.

News broke recently that Gabriel Jesus had undergone surgery in an attempt to fix an injury which had been bothering him. Jesus’ impact on this Arsenal side is absolutely underrated – although he isn’t scoring as much, he is certainly providing a lot to the team in terms of creativity and defensive work rate. It is no wonder he is injured given how hard he works.

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, the Gunners have compiled a four-man shortlist of players who could come in to replace Gabriel Jesus during his injury recovery. The four listed players are Tammy Abraham, Cody Gakpo, Jonathan David and Dusan Vlahovic.

It does not take a genius to say that these four players are first-team worthy at the best of times. Cody Gakpo in particular is a player who jumps out to me, after having an absolutely terrific time in the World Cup.

Tammy Abraham is on fire too, with England fans confused as to why to he didn’t get the callup from Gareth Southgate. The only potential downfall of this signing is that the Gunners would be forced to pay the English tax, which is the case with any English player regardless of their ability.

It is good that Mikel Arteta is eyeing young players. Hosting terrific football from the youngest average squad, it is impressive to see the Gunners holding a firm lead at the top of the table. They are not just here for the short-term either.
