The 5 West Ham United players playing in the FIFA World Cup
By Kian Long
West Ham United have 5 of their roster heading out to Qatar for this year’s FIFA World Cup 2022.
West Ham United have had an underwhelming season. They sit 16th in the league table, which is far below their usual standards. The Hammers need this World Cup break more than most teams and they have five players heading out to represent their countries.
The only concern for David Moyes is that his players return from Qatar injury free and, of course, brimming with confidence.
Here are the five West Ham United players to look out for in this year’s competition…
Declan Rice (England)
Declan Rice was a huge feature in England’s Euro 2020 campaign. The West Ham midfielder who plays with a defensive mind is one of the most important assets to Southgate, as he looks to set-up counter attacks. Rice will have a big tournament, mark my words.
Alphonse Areola (France)
It does not take a genius to predict Areola will not have a busy schedule. He will be back up for France. Still, it is an amazing opportunity and experience for him.
Lucas Paqueta (Brazil)
Brazil are the favourites to win this competition and with players like Paqueta, it is clear to see why. He will be rotated in and out of the starting XI, as Brazil have an abundance of quality in their ranks.
Nayef Aguerd (Morocco)
Ageurd has hardly featured at all for the Hammers this season but he is a talented player, hence his international call-up. Morocco aren’t expected to make it very far, but Aguerd will make the most of the opportunity to play on the world stage.
Tilo Kehrer (Germany)
Having picked up some appearances for Germany already this season, Kehrer has been called up. He will look to inspire the nation with a great history in this tournament.
