The 4 Everton players playing in the FIFA World Cup
By Kian Long
Everton have 4 players jetting off to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Everton are having an awful time this season. The World Cup break could not come at a better time for the Toffees, as they currently sit in 17th place, just outside of the Premier League relegation zone.
That said, they will hope these four players will come back from the World Cup injury free and brimming with confidence…
Jordan Pickford (England)
This one was obvious. Although he has not been in great form for Everton, Pickford has been the star of the last two competitions for England. Fans will be hopeful he will get up to the same shot-stopping antics between the sticks, as he seems to turn into a completely different player in the England jersey,
Amadou Onana (Belgium)
Onana is a versatile player as he can play in both the attacking third and the defensive third. For Everton this season, he has played the majority of their Premier League games. He is a real driving-force and while it is unlikely he will play every game for Belgium, he will certainly get minutes.
Conor Coady (England)
One of the players picked by Southgate for his sheer versatility, Conor Coady will be joining Pickford to represent their country. England have a relatively easy group, but are known to bottle it when the pressure is on. Coady and Pickford will hope to inspire this out of their countrymen.
Idrissa Gana Gueye (Senegal)
Senegal have received bad news over Sadio Mane, who is expected to miss the start of their World Cup campaign. That being said, they are a nation with plenty of spirit, it’s where Gueye gets it from. He will essentially start every match for Senegal as he is one of their more important players, and Everton fans know well enough how spirited he is to win the ball back for his side.
