FPL: Why you must transfer in Timothy Castagne ahead of gameweek 16

There is a reason why FPL managers tend to make similar changes to their peers.

FPL gameweek 16 is fast approaching and it’s an emotional one for all managers – this gameweek will be the last for a while. The good news, though, is that we can enjoy a break with the biggest competition in the world, the World Cup. If you’re rooting for England like myself, then we can get back to FPL planning after out inevitable semi-final exit.

But for now, our minds remain on generating the most points possible in FPL before we head into the break.

There were plenty of lessons to be learned from gameweek 15 as it was filled with highs and lows. But when we look ahead to gameweek 16, there is one move which the entire community seems to be making.

I am, of course, talking about Timohty Castagne of Leicester. He is one of the most transferred-in defenders this gameweek and it is not rocket science as to why. The defender has been a key FPL differential for some weeks now but his goal involvement in gameweek 15 is proving to many why he is a key player.

Castagne is a defender who likes to get himself in promising positions going forward. He is known to generate some nice chances for himself from set-pieces, and often ends up with some close-up chances.

If I would have given you the advice to transfer in a Leicester defender at the start of the season, I would not be surprised if you bit my arm off. However, I can say it with plenty of pride – get Castagne in. No other player in his position has had as many shots taken inside the six-yard box.

Leicester City come up against West Ham United in gameweek 16. It is a big fixture as the Foxes would like to extend their lead on the Hammers. West Ham have only scored 12 goals this season, so a Castagne clean sheet is likely on the cards.
