FPL: Pep hints that Erling Haaland is still a doubt for gameweek 16

FPL’s most premium player may be out for another gameweek.

Gameweek 16 is the final round of FPL before the World Cup break. With that in mind, this is the perfect gameweek to try and generate as many points as possible. What seems to be the most obvious solution is to triple captain Erling Haaland if you still have this lifeline left.

The Norwegian is the most premium player in the game this season, scoring the most points out of any player. However, he is currently nursing an injury, which makes him doubtful in each gameweek until fully healed – maybe time to rethink that solution.

The striker was an unused substitute for Manchester City against Chelsea in the midweek Carabao Cup game, with Julian Alvarez generating a further ninety minutes.

At first glance, Haaland being rested for a somewhat meaningless game may come across as positive, however, it is still not confirmed whether Pep Guardiola feels confident enough to start him.

With Alvarez in great form too, there is no rush to bring Haaland back into the starting XI.
Pep made some unpromising comments in his post-match interview. While it would come across that he is trying to praise Alvarez – and rightly so – looking into the FPL subtext would suggest that Haaland is still doubtful.

My plan of action, considering I already transferred Haaland out of my team, is to keep him out until the World Cup commences. If I have one free transfer this gameweek, I will not be using it to transfer in a doubtful player. Especially considering the unlimited World Cup transfers will soon commence.

If I did have Haaland in my team already, though, I would probably keep him just in case. If he does only play a half or even less, he will undoubtedly score. – it is just an inevitable in life at this point.
