FPL Injury Update: Mikel Arteta provides hope for Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka
By Kian Long
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is owned by 16.6% of FPL managers. It would be wise to hold off on replacing him just yet…
Arsenal had an excellent match against Nottingham Forest in gameweek 14. The Gunners ran rampant and scored five goals. Bukayo Saka, who is owned by 16.6% of the FPL population, suffered an injury knock and had to be replaced by Reiss Nelson (who didn’t have a bad cameo, to say the least, picking up a brace).
Saka still picked up an assist in his cut-short display. The Englishman looked uncomfortable for most of the game but Mikel Arteta wanted to keep him on the pitch, testing his fitness as he oftentimes does.
With 68 points over the course of this season, Saka is the ninth highest-scoring Premier League player this season. With this in mind, it is a surprise to see his ownership as low as it is. I have a feeling this is due to panic transfers after seeing the yellow flag next to his icon.
But fear not. The right thing to do now is to wait. Wait for further updates from Mikel Arteta, which there will be.
For now, Arteta has given a positive update. According to Arsenal’s official website, Saka will more than likely be fit for the World Cup and Arteta sees his injury as “nothing further than” a limp.
Phew. Of course, I will update you all on ahead of Sunday’s match against Chelsea but for the time being, I will not be taking Saka out of my gameweek 15 lineup.
Consider this. Chelsea is a big game. If Arsenal are to stay top and be taken seriously by their league rivals, they need to win this game. Saka is Arsenal’s most important player and Arteta is clearly building his team around him. If there is even the slightest bit of fitness in Saka, Arteta will certainly start him. And it’s a fixture which has served the Englishman well in the past.
