3. Weston McKennie (Juventus)

Here I am offering a different but just as beneficial approach to Potter. Weston McKennie, who plays for Juventus, is a great box-to-box midfielder. Not only can he sneak up and win back possession for his side, but he likes to drive forward with his excellent dribbling and is no stranger to taking on a shot for himself.

He has made 16 appearances across all competitions this season and is performing expertly in the Champions League, getting on the score sheet in the competition just this week. He will feel hard done by as Juventus will not qualify for the knockout stages of the competition this year. This is a feat which Chelsea have achieved.

McKennie is a frequent member in the USMNT squad. His work on the ball has been known to many and he is thought to be the next big thing. Much like Christian Pulisic, who is enjoying himself in Chelsea blue.

It won’t be an easy decision for Graham Potter, as Kante is a terrific player and one which is not easy to replace. However, with all options considered, this could be a time for the Blues to build and become even more comfortable under Potter’s philosophy.
