Harry Kane has not yet signed his contract extension with Tottenham Hotspur, and it may be a while before he makes the decision.

Harry Kane is known as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s own. Having pledged his loyalty to the club since he joined more than a decade ago, the English striker has had no real reward. The club have consistently pushed for silverware but have always fell too short.

Pundits have oftentimes questioned Kane’s mentality. He is more than good enough to compete in a team which wins trophies but he doesn’t seem to have the motivation to do so. Ageing now at 29 years old, the English striker is still in hot goal scoring form and is Spurs’ main talisman.

Kane has been in the starting XI for all 12 of Tottenham’s league matches this season and he has an impressive return rate of 10 goals and one assist. He is on track to get another 20+ goals this season. This is inevitable in life, almost as inevitable as death and taxes.

However, his contract is certainly running out. He signed a contract extension some seasons ago which would keep him at the club until 2024 but talks were ongoing to keep him at the club for longer. According to a worrying report from the Evening Standard, Harry Kane will not carry on talks until after the World Cup is finished in December.

This is not a good sign for Spurs, as the Express reported recently that Bayern Munich were keen to sign Kane. The Bavarian side are missing out on the end product they once had with Robert Lewandowski.

If Tottenham are to keep the man who has provided plenty of goals with them in recent times, they must do more to encourage him to stay. Sitting in third place should not be enough of a target for a player of his great quality. They need to turn their form around if they are to challenge their North London rivals Arsenal and the current champions Manchester City.
