Erling Haaland has been in my team since the start of FPL but it’s time now to transfer him out.

If you haven’t already, open up a new tab on your browser and make those FPL changes in time for gameweek 14. I’m as guilty as anyone for leaving it until the last second but this week, I jumped straight on there as I didn’t want to miss a trick with Erling Haaland’s suspected injury.

In a press conference, Pep Guardiola revealed the Manchester City talisman has been “carrying a knock” on his foot. It’s not great news for the 84.2% of managers who include him as their leading man. It’s not the first time there have been concerns surrounding his play-time, but this time Pep has more reason to bench him.

The good news, I suppose, is that this is only a knock. When it comes to “knocks”, it’s oftentimes not much to panic about with regard to FPL, as the player will usually walk or sleep the injury off.

However, we are in the time leading up to the World Cup whereby fixtures are coming in quick and fast. Therefore, the Catalan manager has plenty of incentive to keep his best players fit and resting such players in games like this is often the route.

With a squad that has as much depth as the Citizens, I feel like they wouldn’t be making a huge sacrifice to their league hopes by not selecting Haaland in the starting eleven. Let us not forget that City have a more than able Julian Alvarez waiting on the bench for a potential breakthrough.

The Argentine has made 8 appearances from the bench in the league, with just one start. Whenever has come from the bench he has impressed, scoring two league goals so far this season.

Alvarez offers a different option to success for Pep. He is more in the centre forward mould and plays much more creatively in the attacking line. This would leave many avenues for creativity as City hope to continue pressurising Arsenal, who are tested with their busy schedule.

Will you be keeping, selling or benching Haaland for gameweek 14?
