3 options to replace Erling Haaland for FPL Gameweek 14
By Kian Long
If you’re a hysterical FPL manager like me, you’ll be panicking about Erling Haaland’s injury. Fear not, for there are options.
Erling Haaland has been an absolute cheat code on FPL this season. Rarely goes by a game where he isn’t picking up points in the double digits. I haven’t needed to change my captaincy once and I didn’t think I ever would.
However, the inevitable has happened. Haaland has picked up an injury which potentially sees him rested as Manchester City take on Leicester City in gameweek 14. 90min have predicted that Alvarez takes his place in the starting XI.
With that being said, making a temporary change wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world, if you have the funds and free transfers to do. Although, do keep in mind that the World Cup period is slowly approaching so banking those free transfers could also be a good strategy.
Anyway, if you are opting for the former, here are three worthy strikers to consider if you are replacing Haaland…
1. Ivan Toney (£7.5m)
Ivan Toney is the man for me. £7.5m seems like a bargain and the most obvious choice as the Englishman comes up against a struggling Wolves side in gameweek 14. With the World Cup coming up, Toney has scored eight goals in twelve games and will be eager to keep up his goal scoring form if he is to compete with Kane in the England starting XI.
2. Darwin Nunez (£8.8m)
A bit of a pricer option is the Liverpool main man Darwin Nunez. He is a controverisal pick given his halted start to life in England, however, he is finding his feet. Scoring four goals in his last five games, he would be a great option to replace Haaland.
3. Harry Kane (£11.5m)
If you’re after guaranteed FPL points and don’t mind breaking into the piggy bank, then Harry Kane is the option for you. The Tottenham striker has scored ten goals in the league this season, only bettered by Haaland. Playing against Bournemouth, I feel like there will be a rush to sign the Englishman this gameweek.
How is your front line looking ahead of gameweek 14?
