Arsenal seem to be a completely new team under Mikel Arteta this season.

Having finished in fifth place, quite unfortunately courtesy of poor form towards the end of last season, this time round was always going to be a test for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s men have aspirations of finishing in a Champions League spot. Therefore, it is absolutely pivotal that the North London side perform as a collective to get the job done.

So far, so good. Fixtures were generous to Arsenal at the start of this season so it was difficult to decipher if the new signings provided the winning formula for Mikel Arteta. That said, you can only beat what’s in front of you and that’s exactly what they’ve done; only with the exception of losing to Manchester United and drawing to Southampton recently.

Heading into November, Arsenal find themselves top of the Premier League table. There are many factors that contribute to this but essentially it is the togetherness of the squad which Arteta has instilled. For this, he has all of his players to thank, but I’d be lying if I said there haven’t been standout individuals.

Here are my top five Arsenal players from this season so far…

5. Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus. What a signing.

I won’t lie, I have been the first to criticise Arsenal’s recruitment strategies in the past. I still do believe that the recruitment team could do with some improving before it is perfect, however, it has improved a lot.

Edu and company got everything spot on when it came to Gabriel Jesus, though. He is everything Arteta has been looking for in a striker; he is energetic, skilful and hard working.

What I have been most impressed with this season is Jesus’ ability to win the ball back in the opposing half. Given that the Gunners press in numbers, this gives them the perfect opportunity to forage counter attacks.

He is physical, and he certainly doesn’t lack cojones. He is what Troy Deeney’s dreams are made of.

Moving up the list now…
