Steven Gerard or Frank Lampard?

They are both England legends with over 100 caps each, and with their experience playing for the Three Lions at major tournaments, it could be vital if either were given the job.

Gerard has had success at Rangers, winning the Scottish Premiership in 2021 but his Aston Villa side currently sits in 15th place in the Premier League.

Lampard took derby county to the Championship play-off final in 2019 and then managed Chelsea to a fourth-place finish, despite having a transfer ban. He was credited for giving young English talent a chance with the Blues, with Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount doing well for his side.

He is currently Everton’s manager and steered them away from relegation last season. The Toffees are now 13th in the division. Both he and Gerard fit the ex-player mould and would be respected by the squad, who would have grown up watching them play and sees them as role models.
