Following England’s relegation from League A in the Nations League and some very underwhelming performances where England have not scored a goal in open play in their last five matches, there have inevitably been questions about Gareth Southgate’s future.
Whilst it would be crazy to get rid of Southgate before the World Cup, the FA will likely be drawing up a list of potential suitors for the role if performances do not improve during the tournament in Qatar.
Southgate has done a fantastic job in charge of the Three Lions leading them to a World Cup semi-final in 2018 where they lost in extra time to Croatia, he also led the team to the final of Euro 2020 but was denied the trophy on penalties to Italy.
💬 "I know I'll be judged on what happens at the World Cup. Contracts are irrelevant in football."

He has been the England boss since 2016 and his time may have run its course. Having not seen Southgate manage in the Premier League since his days at Middlesbrough and given the job he has done transforming the national team, we are likely to see him in the dugout of a top-flight club someday.
The FA are likely to choose an English manager as they have done since Fabio Capello left in 2012. But who could replace Southgate as England manager?
