2. Everton

After a pretty disappointing season last time around and escaping relegation by the width of a whisker, Frank Lampard demanded more signings and has rightfully got them. Despite losing Richarlison to Spurs for a figure estimated to be around £60million, the Merseyside outfit have been pretty smart in their recruitment policy as opposed to before.

The Toffees have spent a reported £70million on player transfers with Amadou Onana, Dwight McNeil, Neil Maupay, and James Garner being among those signings. Everton have also managed to attract some experienced players with James Tarkowski, Idrissa Gueye, and Connor Coady joining on free transfers.

They’ve also managed to hold onto breakout star Anthony Gordon for another season which could be the difference between staying in the top division or going down. However, the club are still without a win in their first six games.

They’ve drawn four whilst losing two and have also lost key players in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yerry Mina, Jordan Pickford, Ben Godfrey, and Andros Townsend to injuries.

Everton can go from the sublime to the ridiculous pretty quickly but if Lampard can get their talented players to play in a more balanced way, they should be clear of real relegation worries. Everton’s phenomenal support last season was, arguably, the key reason for their survival.

For the final games, fans mobilized pre-match outside the stadium and let off fireworks, and welcomed their team bus into Goodison Park, which for a neutral would be something reminiscent of a Champions League final and not a domestic level relegation scrap.

However, the bond between fans and club still remains in doubt, and with West Ham and Manchester United also due at Goodison next, things could go south pretty quick.
