With the Premier League campaign already well and truly underway and the summer transfer window finally closed, we can now sit back and enjoy the games for once.

History suggests that at least one, and more probably two, of the newly-promoted clubs will exit immediately come May.

The last few seasons have provided pretty intriguing relegation battles with teams like Norwich, Bournemouth, Watford, Fulham, and more recently teams like Burnley and Sheffield United being among those constantly shuffling spots every season.

Since the 2017-18 season, when Newcastle, Brighton, and Huddersfield all stayed up, at least one promoted club has gone straight back down. Last season it was Norwich and Watford who couldn’t retain their status in the Premier League, though Brentford avoided making it three-in-three.

Events of the summer suggest supporters of a few more clubs can expect a relegation scrap this time around. Let’s take a look at a few clubs that could be going down to the EFL Championship come May.
