Premier League Sides Kick off European Action
The seven Premier League representatives got their UEFA club competition season underway over the last few days, with varying results across the seven teams.
As mentioned Chelsea got off to a horrible start in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, losing to Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 in Croatia. Later on that evening, Manchester City made light work of a struggling Sevilla, hitting the Andalusians for four in a dominant display.
Spurs got past the 10 men of Marseille on Wednesday without too much trouble, while Liverpool were humbled 4-1 at Napoli. A horrific start for last May’s finalists in the competition.
Manchester United’s Europa League campaign started off poorly as they fell to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford. An early second-half penalty sealed the deal, putting an end to a four-game winning streak.
Arsenal snuck past Zürich in their Europa League encounter, finding a winner at the hour mark. West Ham, who won two Europa Conference League playoff round games prior to their Thursday match, came from behind to beat FCSB 3-1 in their group stage opener.
