As the Premier League has an unexpected weekend without action and the return to football this weekend coming, we take a look back on the most standout events to take place since the opening day.

We are six weekends through the 2022-23 Premier League season with much having gone on over the first month and a half of play. Although this weekend’s past games have been postponed for extenuating circumstances, it should not stop us from taking a look at what has gone on so far.

With that in mind, here are six things related to top-flight clubs that have happened so far this season.

Gunners: Surprise Leaders

Often being seen as a club to ridicule, Arsenal stormed to five wins on the spin to open their domestic campaign. While Mikel Arteta’s side might have fallen to Manchester United in their last Premier League outing, they still find themselves at the summit of the league table.

The Gunners have not had this good a start to the season in quite some time, so this is a welcomed sight for their fans. The last time they started the season with five unbeaten was in 2014-15. One would have to go back the season before to find the last time the North London side was atop the tables at this point.

Ambitions are still high for Arteta’s men, with a long-awaited return to the Champions League being the goal for the campaign. Whether they can continue this remarkable pace is another story.
