Leeds United Have More Strength at Midfield After Summer Moves
By Glenn Brewer
Leeds’ Other New Man: Marc Roca
Roca is a strong ball progressor and is far more of a playmaker than Adams. The ability to move the ball up the field plays very well with the pairing of Adams.
Already Roca has shown flashes of the long balls that can lead to solid scoring chances. Phillips also developed a strong long ball pass, which was needed as he was the only CDM. Roca seemingly will replace that aspect of Phillips while providing better possession and playmaking.
The combination of Adams and Roca not only replaces the skillset of Phillips but brings more to the table. The ceiling is high for this duo, and they will fit nicely into the Marsch system.
What next for Jesse Marsch and Leeds United?
Taking the opening three fixtures of the Premier League into account, Leeds have one of their toughest opponents when they travel to the Falmer Stadium for a meeting against Brighton on Saturday.
Graham Potter’s men have been equally as impressive as Jesse Marsch’s Whites, so this is expected to be a tougher encounter compared to the first three, even if they have played and beat Chelsea. Like Leeds, the Seagulls have already claimed a big scalp in Manchester United.
Both sit on seven points and are yet to lose an EPL fixture. The Whites are in third place with a better scoring rate while Potter’s men are in fifth place and are the best defensive team in the league so far.
Leeds have a lot of confidence heading into their next PL encounter, having come off another impressive victory in the second round of the EFL Cup, when they beat Barnsley 3-1 at Elland Road on Wednesday night.
