Leeds United survived a brutal season and managed to stay up in the Premier League on the last day. This summer transfer window also saw them lose their two best players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

Although losing your two most skilled players is not ideal, the team was able to embrace a new era of Leeds football under Jesse Marsch. Marsch has instilled a better form of communication and confidence amongst the players and the board.

Phillips and Raphinha are irreplaceable players, but Leeds did not sit and sulk in the transfer window. They moved swiftly at a group of players that fit Marsch’s tactics and allocated the money received from the sales of Phillips and Raphinha intelligently.

In essence, the Leeds midfield is far better this season than it was last run out. Phillips was replaced by two players and both players are arguably bringing more to the team than Phillips has over the last two campaigns.

Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have had great starts to their Leeds careers and look to improve even more as the season wears on.
