Naby Keita, who has not started a Premier League game for Liverpool this season but has remained in the headlines, is being linked to Borussia Dortmund. Should the Reds consider selling the midfielder and work on closing a deal for a new man before the window closes 9 nine days from now?

It’s been a tough summer for Liverpool and Naby Keita. The player has been ill or injured since the season got underway. Coupled with these reported “setbacks”, the club and player have been involved in a contract standoff, reaching an impasse in discussions.

As per Klopp: there isn’t anything in it and he still values the Guinean and sees him as an important figure in the team. With this, the club are more interested in keeping him for another season despite the halt in talks, and will even run the risk of losing him for free when his contract expires next year June.

The player himself believes he has not received the important role he was promised when joining, hence the hesitation in signing a new deal with the Anfield club. However, how can they trust a player with such an intermittent presence and irregular availability since joining them?

Should Liverpool sell Naby Keita?

There is an interest as per reports but it is unsure if they are willing to sell this late in the transfer window. With an injury crisis this early in the season already, they have limited numbers in the middle of the park, which has hindered their performances. Liverpool is also known for not acting hastily in the market, cause when they do transfers such as Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies occur.

So with all this in mind, it’s quite difficult to see them selling the playmaker who is supposed to show his true potential now that they have added Darwin Nunez to the squad. However, he is barely available and selling now doesn’t sound too bad of an idea.

"Borussia Dortmund are interested in Naby Keita. Any money received could be used to find a replacement. Moises Caceido at Brighton is one possible solution. He fits the profile in terms of age and numbers – a player of incredible promise who is now a Premier League regular in a fine team at the age of 20,(as per @maddockmirror)"

They can go into the campaign with a new player rather than gamble with an injury-prone one for a full season, where they are supposed to be defending their domestic cups. They have already sold many of their star bench players, as well as the ruthless Sadio Mane.

Losing another core player would be a big step into the new Liverpool era and the risk appears to be the same as keeping Naby Keita.

Sadly for Liverpool Fans: No Links to New Players

There is little optimism floating around Anfield, Liverpool, and on Merseyside as a whole. Both Merseyside clubs have started their respective Premier League campaigns dismally and sit at the bottom end of the table standings.

The Reds have been linked to nobody and it could be seen as quite arrogant not to act while they have the chance. The owners, FSG, have been called out by a certain sector of the fans once again, even after making another club-record signing this summer in Nunez.

Other Reports Claim Dortmund Links Are False

Some outlets have made the claim of the BVB-Keita links while out of Germany there are some reports that the links are widely off the mark and there is no interest in signing the Guinean.
