After Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner’s departure, Chelsea has been looking to sign a new player to lead their line.

Despite having Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz, both capable of playing in that position, Chelsea believes that they need to sign a striker to achieve their goals this season and turn their poor start to the season around.

Thomas Tuchel and his men have won one, drew one, and lost one. They have only managed to score three this season while letting in five on the other end of the pitch.

Piere Emrick-Aubameyang Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has emerged as the top target for the Blues.

According to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports Golazo, a deal has been agreed between Chelsea and Barca, Jacobs recently tweeted saying;

However, they have already written a backup plan just in case the move for the Gabon star does not work out. The Blues are ready to now fight Manchester United and Everton for Brentford’s star striker Ivan Toney.

According to the Mirror;

"Chelsea and Everton have joined Manchester United in weighing up moves for Ivan Toney.The Brentford striker features on prospective target lists at all three clubs, and the Bees are bracing themselves for bids before the transfer window closes.via mirror.co.uk"

Ivan Toney Has Impressed So Far in the Premier League

Ivan Toney has impressed for the Bees ever since the club got promoted to the top flight last season. In 33 appearances, the former Portsmouth striker scored 12 goals and assisted a further 5, averaging a goal contribution almost every other game.

He has also started this season in a strong way, scoring and assisting 2 goals each in the 270 minutes he has played this season. However, if Chelsea do decide to make a move for Toney, it will not be easy. They will have to fight off Manchester United and Everton for his signature.

Having recently confirmed the signing of Casemiro, Manchester United are now looking to sign forwards to bolster their attackers. Antony has been heavily linked with a move and looks certain to sign for the Red Devils.

If Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave United, we could see the club making a move for Toney.

Everton, on the other hand, have been laid out pretty thin in the attacking department ever since the departure of Richarlison to Spurs. They desperately need another attacking option as a backup to the injury-prone Dominic Calvert Lewin, and Ivan Toney could provide them with just that, possibly taking his place in the team.

Not only is Ivan Toney currently at his prime at the age of 26, but he is also Brentford’s star man. Signing him will not be easy, but Chelsea are ready to splash the cash and if the Aubameyang deal falls through, we could see them signing the Englishman.

Do you think Toney would be a good addition to Chelsea’s squad?
