It has been reported that Scott McTominay, who has only played for Manchester United in his career, could leave Old Trafford following the club agreeing on a deal to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid.

According to the Mirror:

"Following the news of Casemiro’s arrival in Manchester, there have been suggestions that Scott McTominay could soon be on the way out of the club. According to reports, he is set to fall down the pecking order at Manchester United and could seek a move away in an effort to earn first-team football.Newcastle, Everton and Leicester are keeping tabs on developments over his future, whilst West Ham manager David Moyes could be set for a raid on his former club should McTominay elect to leave. He still has just under three years left to run on his Old Trafford contract."

Would Joining Newcastle Be a Good Option for McTominay?

Newcastle with their recent takeover from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia will be looking to sign marquee players and McTominay from United would fit the mould.

The club signed Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid in January but this window they have only signed Nick Pope, Sven Botman, and Matt Targett. Eddie Howe’s side will be looking to add more big names before the deadline on the 1st of September.

The Magpies already have a midfield of Joe Willock, Bruno Guimarães, and Joelinton, there would be competition for a starting place for McTominay. Although, Guimarães has been linked with a move away, which could potentially be to replace Casemiro at the Bernabéu.

How About Joining Frank Lampard’s Everton?

Everton has not had the best of starts to the Premier League season. They have suffered two defeats and managed to secure a point against Nottingham Forest on Saturday thanks to a late Demari Gray goal.

Lampard needs to strengthen his midfield, especially as the likes of Anthony Gordon and Dele Alli have been linked with moves away from Goodison Park.

Would the Manchester United Midfielder Suit Leicester?

Leicester has also endured a tough start to the season with two losses and a draw. Brendan Rodgers’ side may need him in midfield with the possibility of James Maddison leaving.

However, Leicester plays United on the day the transfer window closes, so this might cause problems as they would not want to let a player go who will end up facing them soon.

Could he join West Ham?

West Ham United is the only club McTominay is linked with that can offer European football, with them in the Europa Conference League.

The Scotsman would compete with Tomas Soucek for a starting place alongside Declan Rice and he may also end up replacing Rice, who is expected to one day move on from the club.

McTominay was in United’s youth team ranks when Moyes was in charge at Old Trafford and the manager knows how to get the best out of former Red Devils players, taking into account Jesse Lingard’s resurgence at West Ham in 2021.

Leaving United would be tough for the player but he should choose the option that will enable him to compete at the highest level.
