There is no secret in Chelsea’s interest in and pursuit of Leicester City defender, Wesley Fofana. A deal, however, has taken longer to progress through the stages of the transfer. Thankfully, the player has already agreed to personal terms with the Blues, with the Foxes waiting on an improved bid.

It’s been a tough summer for Leicester City, as they see most of the top players rumoured or linked with exits. It’s been more about fending clubs off rather than looking for solutions to their problems at hand, which has seen them draw one and lose one in their opening two Premier League fixtures.

Brendan Rodgers Confirms No Fresh Bids From Chelsea

Rodgers has been somewhat open about the transfer saga between them and the Blues. He confirmed at the start of it all, the first two bids from the London side were nowhere near their £80m evaluation, reiterating Fofana is not for sale at the same time.

The Leicester City boss then also made it clear to the interesting party that they must act fast if they are to make a persuasive offer for the centre-back, as they will need and want time to search for a replacement in the market.

That time is running out and Rodgers’ latest statement in his pre-match press conference is that there have been no new approaches from Chelsea since rejecting the first couple of bids; following it up with “he is not for sale”.

Will Chelsea Come In With a Fresh Bid for Wesley Fofana?

Oh yes, but of course, they will come in with a new and improved offer. Despite the time frame closing down on them and the Foxes having the pulling power, Chelsea and Fofana have already agreed to personal terms with him unhappy that his employers have tried to price him out of a deal.

Sadly, this is how strong the leg they have to stand on is at King Power. Having recently just signed a new long-term deal with them while he was out injured with a broken leg, they have contracted him to the club until 2027.

The West Londoners are working tirelessly to ensure they get this deal and a couple of others over the line as soon as they can. They’ve reportedly agreed to an amount with Inter Milan for the transfer of Cesare Casadei, with the club yet to confirm the deal.

So we could see their other priorities such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the player in discussion, and then finally, Frenkie de Jong, all finalised soon.

Major Update on Wesley Fofana deal!!

The centre-back has been asked to be left out of Leicester’s gameday squad to play Southampton this weekend.

"It is understood a move for Fofana remains the Blues’ priority, and there was growing optimism on Friday that a deal for the French defender could finally take place next week after the centre-half requested to be left out of Leicester’s game against Southampton Saturday.(Via: dailymail.co.uk)"

This does now work in Chelsea’s favour and a transfer is close to the finish line.
