Everton’s Anthony Gordon was said to be a target for Chelsea a couple of weeks back, with the former having already rejected the first bid from the latter for him. As things stand: the player wants to make the switch from Goodison Park to Stamford Bridge but without having to upset those on Merseyside.

Gordan has reportedly made his feelings felt regarding his potential move to Chelsea. The player has told the club that London is where he would like to be but has also followed up his request by saying he will not hand in a transfer request for the sake of keeping the peace with the fans.

"Anthony Gordon wants to leave Everton and sign for Chelsea, although he does not want to jeopardise his relationship with the Everton fans. He hasn’t submitted a formal transfer request, but Everton are aware of his preference to leave the club. (Source: @Matt_Law_DT)"

Chelsea’s Improved Bid for Everton’s Anthony Gordon

The Blues transfer team have made an improved offer of £45m for the Toffee academy graduate. This is a bid the player wants the manager and club to accept. Furthermore, it is being reported that unofficial talks have been held with the Blues and the player’s representatives.

"Chelsea have made a £45m approach for rising England star Anthony Gordon. And though his club Everton don’t want to sell the prize asset they have developed through the academy, there is an awareness he now wants to leave. It is understood he has indicated to Frank Lampard that he is keen on a move to the London club …and wants the manager to consider the offer.Everton are also aware that there has been informal contact with the 21 year old’s representatives, with Chelsea ready to offer a package that is hard to resist for the youngster. Anthony Gordon Will Follow Ross Barkley With a Switch to Chelsea

If Gordon takes Barkley’s career as an example, the future doesn’t look too promising for the youngster. He will have the chance of winning titles, but will he play a major role in helping them secure these potential titles?

Barkley has been at the club for five seasons and has made 58 league appearances, with only 29 of them being starts. He has also been loaned out during his time at the West London club, with them said to be eager to offload the former Everton talent.

Thomas Tuchel has in the past been able to nurture some of the brightest talents in the world but his treatment of other Chelsea players who play in the same position as Anthony Gordon must be taken into account.

Yes, the offer of Champions League football is also a major influencing factor, but as long as Tuchel’s side is heavy in the department Gordon plays in, his opportunity appears limited,e extremely limited. This despite Chelsea claiming they will make him an offer that will be hard to refuse.

Everton cannot afford to lose Anthony Gordon

Having already lost their main striker to injury and other first-team options to long-term lay-offs or sales, Lampard must try his utmost best to keep their brightest young talent at the club. He also needs to consider helping the club out before making a big-money deal to a “better” club.

When the chips are down, stay around. Everton, despite losing their opening two EPL games, have looked decent. They require more firepower up front and if they are to try and convince him he must stay at Finch Farm for the rest of the season and perhaps beyond.

After sustaining their second loss of the season, Lampard and his men now lay in the bottom three, in 18th. It is still early days and plenty of time to turn around their fortune. But this is not where they want to be after just surviving from relegation to the Championship.
