320. . . . Reece James. 4. player

  • Team: Chelsea
  • Position: Defender
  • Price: 6.0

Reece James started this difficult game against Tottenham Hotspur as the right centre-back in an effort to thwart the incredible Heung-Min Son coming in from Spurs’ left-hand side.

He did that job very effectively and following a tactical switch by Conte in the second half that led to Son’s withdrawal, James was returned to right wing-back and in that final half-hour, he showed exactly why he’s a potent attacking weapon from that flank.

James had 2 shots including a big chance, which he scored, and also created 1 big chance to get an xG of 0.47 and xA of 0.49 from this game. Since the start of last season, James has managed to get a goal contribution at a rate faster than nearly every defender in the league and it’s hugely impressive for him to amass an xGI of close to 1 from just 30 minutes at right wing-back (right centre-back before that).

His all-action style also does well on the BPS system; he has a high likelihood of bonus points as he’s already shown this season. Chelsea also embarks on a relatively kind run of fixtures, making James an excellent candidate to bring in if you don’t own him.
